I think I went a bit too hard on the running last week. My legs have certainly been battling this week. Last week I ticked over 100km around the streets and hills of Albi, however, I’m afraid I may have spiked the load a little too high. Running on cobblestone and 14th-centurybrick isn’t friendly on the body like forest trails.
This week my friends and I went on a little road trip to another French town called Montpellier. Montpellier is a lot bigger than Albi and situated on the coast of France. I was stoked to get some time in the ocean water, especially because it’s on the Mediterranean coast too.
None of us any form of transport but we were able to make it to Montpellier in a very affordable fashion. In Europe, there is a service called Bla Bla car which is a ride share app and website where you can pay people a small amount for the spare seat in their car. For main routes, it’s rather easy to find rides from A to B and is a nice change up to catching a bus or even flying.
It was a very spontaneous decision to head to Montpellier, but we managed to make do and have a great time soaking up the sun on the coast.
I’ve taken a bit of time away from the camera the last few weeks, however, here a few photos and some thoughts to go with them.
“It’s important to have dormant periods. Some of the best times are when we are dormant and can take in everything.” This was an excerpt from a chat I had with one of my close friends a few weeks back running and it still resonates with me whilst in France.
The way I viewed the word ‘dormant’, was like a dormant volcano. The volcano is still bubbling, it’s still active, and running hot inside but it’s not exploding or creating destruction. So like the big moments in our life, when we are like an exploding volcano and big events are happening, too many of these can wear us down or take us on a burning path if too frequent or unguided. So it’s the dormant periods where we absorb and reflect that are so incredibly important to us.
This week has been a dormant week, but I know things are going to ramp up soon so I don’t mind taking life a little slower.
Big Love,
JL
