Siargao serendipity, a week where things went better than expected. In a week I’ll be hosting The Siargao Session, my first ever retreat. It will be a week where I bring 10 people from all around the world together for a week of running and mindset. I’m incredibly excited. However, before that starts, I decided to arrive in Siargao early to finalise any last minute details.

It’s always a tough decision when deciding where to stay in Siargao. I’m not too fussed where I stay typically, I usually opt for something cost effective and close to where I need to be. Efficiency is always at the forefront of my mind when travelling. This time I found the best Airbnb in Siargao.

I booked myself into a small little Airbnb in the corner of General Luna. Upon arriving, I dropped my bags and was out for a run within 15 minutes. Without a doubt, I’m sure the hosts thought I was a little crazy. Returning from my run in a pool of sweat, we began to chat. My hosts for the next week, Sheryl and GP, was two living legends. Sheryl originally from Davao in the Philippines and GP, a 7th generation Roman. We hit it off, talking about the development of Siargao and all the amazing places still undiscovered around the island. It turned out that Sheryl previously worked at The Greenhouse, which is the resort I’m about to host my workshop at. This probably seems trivial to you, however, to me it felt like another piece of the puzzle had failed into place. I had found myself in a network of people who deeply cared about Siargao and could direct/connect me to all the places and people I needed to be whilst on the island.

Across the week, I spent most my time at The Greenhouse organising the workshop and adding in the final touches before my guests and the creative team arrived. Most evenings, I’d visit Bulan, a traditional Italian pizzeria. My gosh, it was delicious. Inevitably, I’ve added a pizza night to the retreat.

WHERE TO STAY IN SIARGAO

Siargao is an amazing island destination that is quickly exploding on the tourist and holiday map. When looking for a place to stay, I was simply looking for a place to rest my head. My theory is that I’ll be out adventuring all day, so by the time I get back, all I need is a shower, some wifi and a place to sleep. Nothing fancy, purely space which will cover the bare essentials whilst travelling. Staying with Sheryl and GP, I left with so much more. I truly did find the best airbnb in Siargao.

It will be difficult for you to find a better host on Siargao then Sheryl and GP. They are extremely kind and caring people, along with also being extremely knowledgeable about the island. After exploring Siargao extensively in 2017, they still gave me new places to run around and explore.

GP AND I.

Each morning GP would make breakfast and play wonderful music, honestly, it was the best way to start the day. After a day out, we’d come back and discuss the day’s new learnings and adventures. With the other guests staying at The Courtyard, for a moment, I felt like I had a small family in Siargao.

The room was simple and was all I needed. I would highly recommend staying with Sheryl and GP if you value genuine human connection on your travels.
