Does South Australia have the best sunsets in the world?! I am certainly starting to think so. This week was insane, the sunsets were off the charts. There are many great things that arise from having my feet planted in one city for more than two weeks at a time. Having a base for short blocks of time really allows me to work on the goals I set myself at the start of the year, at the start of my time back in Adelaide and at the start of this week.
Weekly beach run.
Here is one goal of mine from each of the individual time parameters above:
Yearly: By June, be at 80km running per week. (Addition to the goal, hold this consistently)
My 5 weeks back in Adelaide: Do have a podcast recorded, released and planning done for future episodes.
This week: With an influx of work, make time for myself and make attending a sunset every night a priority.
Concise explanation of why I chose these goals:
Yearly goal: Running 80km a week was more than just a physical goal for me. The overarching idea of this goal is consistency. Previously in my training, I have run this far or further in a week but have found myself to be suffering an injury in the subsequent weeks. It’s taken me 5 months to get to this stage, running 5-6 times a week consistently. Training for the ultra-marathon has helped me with motivation for this goal but also, showed me the importance of getting the work done on days when I haven’t felt like it.
Goal for Adelaide: Releasing a podcast has been on my list of things to do for a while now. I have surrounded myself with so many incredible people and as a result find myself engaging in some amazing conversations. Often these chats are had over cup of coffee and smoothie bowl at breakfast and deserved to be heard by more than just the people sitting around the table. With a longer term goal of doing some public speaking, running a podcast will be a useful tool to develop this skill and a fun learning experience too.
Weekly goal: Making time for myself (yourself) is imperative when leading a busy lifestyle. I often find myself buzzing around trying to do way too many things at once, going to sunset allows me to stop, regroup, appreciate my surroundings, spend time with those close to me and also do what I love, take photos.

3 weeks to go till I run the Bali-Hope Ultra Marathon!
I’m now only three weeks out till I head to run 84km from the North to the South of Bali. Running has been a huge focus for me at the moment. It has been so much more than just running for me and this quote from my friend Chris really sums it up:
“It shows the quality of your friends when they all embrace an important event upcoming in your life.”
Going out solo to run 15-30km sometimes just isn’t that fun. Sometimes I don’t feel like listening to music or podcasts or I feel mentally drained from work – however, when my friends have come out to run with me it changes everything. Having my friends double as a support crew has helped me incredibly whilst training for this ultra marathon and made the journey leading up to the race so far 1000x more enjoyable.
I have a $5000 fundraising goal, currently I am hovering just under $1400. The marathon aims to
fund 100 disadvantaged children through primary school in Northern, Bali. Away from the tourist highlights, Bali has areas of high poverty, with some families living on little more than $2 a day. I believe education is the most powerful tool we can use to alleviate poverty which is why I have joined the Bali Hope Ultra. I’d really love if you would jump on board here:
Globally, 250 million children lack basic reading, writing and math skills. This is a major global issue. Together, we can make sure 100 children in Bali are no longer a part of this statistic. Every donation can make a difference.
This little guy makes me happy, I want to make as many of these children happy and educated as I can.

Intentionality is imperative. Most people don’t say what they want or where they want to go. Work on being more intentional with your words, following through to your actions. – Josh Lynott
