Sunny days and sunsets.
The Hawaii I fell in love with back in 2015 decided to show itself again this week, and it really did put quite the smile on my face. Blue skies and overwhelmingly vibrant sunsets were out in force. However, it wasn’t just all play this week.
I’ve been putting a tonne of time into getting this website finally up and running; there were many consecutive late nights to finally get it all together. I want to be able to share with you more than just the quotes and photos you get to see on my Instagram. At the start of the year I set myself a wide array of challenges – one of these was to push myself creatively. My sister and I were chatting, and she mentioned that a lot of what I shoot is already beautiful. So by publishing a weekly blog, pushes me to shoot, document and tell a story no matter what environment I find myself in. I think this is important, when we truly master our skills of choice, it’s because we’ve done them day in day out in every different situation imaginable.

Pipe Shore Break.
North Shore
The North Shore of Hawaii is my favourite place to spend time on Oahu. The vibe is so unique. The ocean is so powerful and alluring, despite how dangerous it is for the unexperienced. Locals ride around on their rusty cruisers and food trucks with the best smoothies on the island can be found scattered around the area. I can easily sit on the shore of pipeline for hours upon hours watching and listening to the mesmerising big waves roll in. The day I was there wasn’t huge, so I was delighted to jump into the shore break for a few moments.

Groms.

Start small.

Diamond Head Sunset
It was a late and spontaneous sunset mission. After a big day of workouts, both running and at the local outdoor gym, all I wanted was a dip in the ocean. My friend Brooklyn scooped me up and we scouted out the closest sunset viewing point available. The sunset that presented was by far the highlight of my day. I firmly believe people should make time each day to either the sunrise or the sunset.

World in her arms.

Good amount out for sunset.

Last light.
Then all of a sudden, one night after a grey gloomy day. This appeared. This would be the best sunset of my time in Hawaii so far. Little life hack, make sure you know what time the sun sets each day, doesn’t take much effort to poke your head out and see what’s happening.

Waikiki on fire.
Lanikai
The end of my week was mainly spent on the East side of the island. This side of island is home to some of the worlds best beaches. Lanikai has consistently been in the voted in the Top 10 beaches world wide and in the US for the past 5 years. As a result, it’s a lot more packed now but that doesn’t subtract from the insanely blue gatorade water. It really is a dreamworld.

Palms and The Mokes.

The blue abyss.
Here’s my favourite snippet of writing for the week.
You won’t burn out doing the things you love,
You’ll burn out because peripheral life events will make you forget why you do it.
When your purpose is intact, your mission is intact.
Keep working towards something that is greater than you and never allow life to make you forget why you started in the first place.
– Josh Lynott
As always, all photos are available print.
Have a stellar week.
