Here it is, your first weekly fix of “7 Days Later”. You’ll be seeing an edition of this every week with an update of the adventures, sunrises, sunsets and everything in between from my world. The primary feature will be my top 10 favourite photos from the week in retrospect. This one is an interesting one for me to write, being the first edition, there are 8022 days before me that I could potentially choose from.

However, I’m not one to live in the past too much, so I’ll keep things fresh. I’m currently in one of my favourite places of the world (from those I’ve been), Hawaii. The first two weeks of this trip I spent with some good mates and some new ones in Kauai. From thereon in I’ve been running wild on Oahu.

Kauai was intense! We were on a mission to do as many of the ridge hikes as we could, and to our credit, we nearly ticked everything off our list except the elusive ‘Blue Hole’. Kauai was hiking wonderland, I’m sure that my legs are a lot stronger since I arrived here. With steep inclines and insane cliff-drops on either side, it’s mind-blowing that places like this even exist on this planet. Occasionally, I’d find myself sitting up the top, heavy-legged in awe of the sheer beauty that surrounded me. Multiple times we hiked for hours, would reach the endpoint and be ‘socked in’. Our definition of the phrase ‘socked in’, was to be completed enclosed by clouds in every possible direction. Initially, it was fun but the novelty soon wore off. However, it was a lesson of persistence. You have to put yourself out there, time after time, till you get what you came for.

The highlight of my time on Kauai was a helicopter ride over the Napali Coast, since starting a never ending bucket list a few years ago, flying in a doorless helicopter over the gradoise sea cliffs of Kauai has long been up the top. 3000ft cliff faces on the edge of the coast, littered with waterfalls and hidden valleys was nothing short of immense to see from the air. If you ever venture over to the wonderland of Kauai, I’d highly recommend it. We proceeded to see the Napali Coast from the water and from the land.

The grand cathedral.

I always note down the days that make me most happy, and I experienced many of these whilst on Kauai. The general recipe, was an early morning sun at sunrise, outdoor bar gym work out, run back to the local acai bowl truck, ocean swim and then typically a hike or sunset mission.

My daily routine has continued to this theme here on Oahu, running plenty and trying to catch as many golden hours as I can. It’s been tough, Oahu has been very cloudy the last week but things are looking bluer and warmer for the week ahead.

Jackson and I post run, gym, run with our favourite smoothie bowl.

As mentioned in the introductory post, I’ll do my best to leave you each week with something to ponder or my favourite piece of writing.

“Never hold back your opinion or views for how amazing this life is. It could be your exclamation for something marvellous in your day that helps someone else see their day from a different light. And from there, they notice those kind of moments more often and it was all because you expressed to the world how much you loved this life, we were lucky enough to live in.” – Josh Lynott.

Any photo of mine will always be available for print, from this post and all to come.

Catch you soon.

The clouds removed

The only look we got at this one.

Insane.

See what I mean about big drops.

I like palms, and I’d like this framed on a wall.

Hidden waterfalls in the valley.
