What a week
, I made it from up to Noosa, ventured back down to Adelaide and raised another $864. This elevates my grand total to $1301! I have now passed the quarter mark towards my fundraising goal of $5000. If you’ve just tuned in, and you’re a new reader or follower, I’ll give you a quick run down. I am training for The Bali Hope Ultra Marathon, an 84km run traversing from Lovina in the north of Bali to Canggu in the south. We are working with The Classroom of Hope to to give an education to disadvantaged Balinese children. $220 AUD puts a child through a year of school which is crazy, because a lot of us have probably spent that on a new pair of shoes or on coffee over the course of a few months. I’d love for you to jump onboard and help me with the fundraising, but more importantly, give an education to those where education isn’t a fundamental right.

My first time to Noosa

I’ve always heard a lot about Noosa but never been around the area, or spent much time in Queensland to go and check it out. It was a real cloudy ol’ week up in the Sunshine Coast. With rain and heavy cloud cover each day, sunshine appeared very infrequently. Nevertheless, a visit to Noosa main beach and boardwalk was in order.

Aussies love the beach.

There was an increase in crowds from school holidays and the Commonwealth Games down on the Gold Coast. It was certainly on for young and old. Dense crowds packed the space between the flags, all trying to avoid the whirling rips that surrounded the main beach. I even got caught in a rip myself, fortunately the life guards were all over it. They directed us all where to swim to get out of it safely.

Here’s some of my favourite photos from Noosa, I can’t wait to get back there when the sun is beaming.

Boards were coming in hot from all directions.

Almost looks like both guys are paddling for the same wave on either side?

Noosa boardwalk views.

One of the many breaks up at Noosa, with plenty getting in on the action.

Time to head back to Adelaide

With the ultra marathon now just 6 weeks out, I thought it would be a wise decision for me to head back to Adelaide, my home town, to focus on training, sleep, eating and all the other important ingredients when training for an event so large. I fully believe that when you take on a task, a challenge or any passion, to fully immerse yourself in it. For me to do give myself the best chance of finishing this ultra marathon with 10 weeks notice, it meant for me to head back to Adelaide. One thing I love about Adelaide is the sunsets, and upon my arrival home I certainly wasn’t let down. Check these flicks out.

Brighton glass off.

Last minute of sun.

Loving these hues.

I could see this picture on the wall of someone’s house, maybe your house?

My favourite adventure of the week: Adelaide’s Crystal Quarry

Wanting to make the most of Adelaide’s last April heat wave, a spontaneous Sunday adventure was in order. We packed our picnic box with some goodies and hit the road. About an hour out of Adelaide you can find a quarry in Birdwood. Disclaimer: It’s private property, enter at your own risk and leave the place cleaner than you found it. It was easy enough to find, a quick scout of google maps satellite view over Birdwood and it wasn’t hard to spot. Like any spot that catches the eye, foot traffic increases and so does the litter. Already there were plenty of beer bottles and rubbish being left behind, so whether you go to this quarry or your own adventure, pick up a few pieces of rubbish on your way home and make the world a little cleaner. A hashtag which I’ve seen trending on instagram at the moment is #take3forthesea, I don’t know much about the Australian organisation but I really like the message. It’s something that we can all do.

“Take 3 pieces of rubbish when you leave the beach, waterway or…anywhere and you’ve made a difference.”

Check for depth first.

This just feels so Australian.

Had to do a depth check first before venturing in with my camera.

It’s super refreshing, I’d recommend dipping the does in.

Stellar week overall, both behind the clouds and in the sunshine. Regardless of the weather this week, get out and about. It’s hard to have a bad day when you see the sunrise or make it to your favourite spot to watch the sunset. Find something that’s worth waking up early for and get after it. Above all, surround yourself with people that bring the most out of you. People that are quirky, that love life, love adventure and ooze positivity – you need them around you.

Don’t dilute yourself. Give 150%, not 50%. I don’t even care that 150% ‘isn’t possible’, going above and beyond is. If you are interested, if you like something, or one of those luckily enough to love what you do –  why don’t you learn and know everything there is about it? Let it evolve you, be the muse for those who aren’t willing to immerse themselves in it like you can. – Josh Lynott
